Hagane no Renkin Jutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemist) Ep 24 - Omoide no Teichaku (Retrieval of memories)

Scar is saved by his tribesmen after the incident at the 5th laboratory which resulted in him suffering serious injuries. The brothers, Leo and Rick take care of Scar but Leo grumbles that Scar is not listening to them when he tries to feed him with food. Just then, some soldiers from the millitary come to attack the Isbal village and cause major destruction...

After the argument with Ed, Al is wandering on the streets and happens to meet Leo and Rick who are running away from a shop owner after stealing some food from him. The brothers then bring Al back to the Isbal camp located underground where he meets Scar again. In the meantime, Ed and Winry are trying to look for Al so that Ed can explain to Al on what he is really afraid of. Winry tells Ed to brace up and face Al bravely or things between them would really sour due to this misunderstanding. Scar and his tribesmen tell Al that they are living underground due to the attacks by the millitary which Al is surprised to hear about.

Just at this time, Rick realises that he has lost the locket his mother gave him and decides to go back to the streets to look for it. Leo, Scar and Al follow him so as to ensure his safety. On the way, Al asks Scar if he regards him as a human or just a soul within the empty armour but Scar does not answer him. Rick finds the locket which Leo is not too happy about as he dislikes his mother. Suddenly, the millitary launch an attack on them and capture Rick as their hostage.

Al calls Ross to find out more about the situation and realises that those men are actually hired soldiers. Leo also reveals why he hates his mother as she ran into the room when the millitary barged into their home during the Isbal war. Meanwhile, Ed and Winry find out that Al contacted Ross and are on their way to look for Al.

Al and Scar join forces to save Rick and Al is attacked by Number 66 who keeps harping on the fact that Al is unreal. He loses his concentration and is almost going to be injured where Ed arrives to save Al. Ed finally reveals what has been bothering him i.e. whether Al hates him for giving him such a bulky and big body. Al finally realises how much Ed means to him and retalliates by giving Number 66 a punch. Scar then finishes the job by destroying Number 66 and captures the hired soldiers. Just then, one of the arrows happen to hit Rick but he is unhurt because the locket blocked the arrow from going into his body. Inside the locket is a photo of his mother, Leo and Rick as well as some medicine for the eyes. The elderly man who takes care of Leo and Rick then reveal that their mother was blind so she wasn't running away from the soldiers but was going to the room to look for her sons.

In actual fact, the hired soldiers are acting under the orders of Sloth who is currently working as the secretary of the King.

The Isbal tribe move elsewhere to settle down and Scar goes with them. He also answers Al's question earlier and says that he views him as a human. Ed asks Scar whether they were attacked for the Kenja no Ishi but Scar denies it and says that they wanted it to save themselves only. When asked whether they managed to get it in the end, Scar refuses to say anything.

Ed and Al finally patch up and Winry is happy to see them being the same as before...

There's an internal spy within the millitary and things are going to get more complicated in future. Somehow, I find the King kind of weird at times e.g. when he followed Armstrong and gang to go to the 5th laboratory to save Ed and Al. If he didn't go there, I doubt Sloth would have showed up there to let her gang escape so something's really fishy here. I really think that he could be a baddie after all. Maybe Hughes realised that something was not right within the millitary and wanted to keep Mustang out of it for the time being. And I don't see why the Homcrest are so bent on killing the Isbal tribe.

Finally, Ed and Al have ironed out their differences so I hope there won't be any more problems in future. And how will they continue to find the Kenja no Ishi despite the obstacles would probably be the focus for the rest of the series.
