Hagane no Renkin Jutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemist) Ep 27 - Sensei (Teacher)

Al returns to the hotel frantically where Sigu is standing behind him. Ed turns pale upon seeing this and decides to escape by the window but he is punched by Izumi who is already waiting there. Winry is surprised to see this happening and the brothers cower in fear as Izumi reveals that she has heard a lot about them including the fact that Ed has become a national alchemist.

Mustang is going to be transferred back to Central from East City and requests his superior to allow him to take some of his subordinates back. He chooses Hawkeye, Havoc, Breda, Falman and Fuery to return with him.

Ed and Al are tied up by Izumi as they make their way back to Dublith by train. Ed reminds Winry that she should have seen Izumi and Sigu before at Rizenburu. At that time, Ed and Al's mother, Tricia had already passed away and they were taken care of Pinako. The brothers already promised to try bringing Tricia back to life with human alchemy at her funeral but realised the limitations of self-study since there were things they could understand from their father's books.

One night, the river was going to overflow due to heavy rain and Ed and Al tried to use a alchemy sign drawn on paper so as to to create some barriers. However, this was of no use due to their limited powers. Izumi and Sigu appeared at that time and she managed to create some giant barriers to block the water. The brothers were very impressed with her powers but Izumi actually fainted after helping the villagers.

When Izumi woke up, Ed and Al asked her to be their alchemy teacher but she said that she did not take in any students. As Izumi had to return to Dublith to manage her shop, Ed and Al insisted on returning with her. When asked about why they wish to learn alchemy, Ed and Al hid the real reason and merely said that they wanted to help people. With the approval of Pinako, Izumi agreed to bring them back for 1 month to decide whether they were suitable to learn alchemy and would allow them to stay if they passed the test.

Ed and Al finally untie the ropes and try to escape but Izumi is already waiting in ambush for them and stops them from having their way...

The group finally returns to Dublith and the brothers shudder to think what kind of punishment awaits them later. They also meet an old friend, Meisun who join them for lunch. Izumi notices that there is something wrong since Al does not eat anything and Ed seems to be deep in thought.

Izumi gets to be with the brothers alone and reminds them of what she taught them about the alchemy being a natural cycle and death being an irreversible event in life. She sees through that the fact that Ed has lost his limbs and Ed's soul resides in an empty armour even before they reveal anything. Ed admits that they had tried to use alchemy to bring their mother back to life and they get beaten up by Izumi for disobeying her advice. Nevertheless, she hugs them gently like a mother in the end to give them comfort for the pain they have suffered so far...

Now that Mustang is going back to Central, he should be involved in direct clashes with the Homcrest tribe, the gang led by Greed and possible spies within the millitary, probably of a high rank besides Sloth who disguises herself as Juliet.

As for Ed and Al, we'll get to see more of what they did during their training under Izumi before they tried to bring their mother back to life. Talking about Izumi, she seems like a rather mysterious character. First of all, the most obvious thing I noticed was the symbol on her chest which resembled what Lust and the other Homcrest people had. Does that mean she used to be part of them or is related to them in one way or another? She also seems to bear a grudge against national alchemists too thus she's not happy to hear that Ed is working in the millitary now. Somehow, I think that her real identity or past would be of essence when it comes to knowing more on Kenja no Ishi.
